Carocho e a velha de Constantim


Le rituel païen du Carocho e a Velha est un rituel de passage de l'enfance au stade d'homme. Le nouvel homme acompagné de sa "vieille" ( un autre garcon deguisé en vieille dame) et des pauliteiros font le tour du village en passant dans chaque maison pour récolter nourriture et argent, qui serviront à reunir le village pour une grande fête le lendemain.
Ce passage à l'âge adulte se matérialise par des mimes de mauvaises actions sur les personnes environnantes ( vols, desirs sexuels, racket). On ne m'as pu m'expliquer les raisons mais il est possible que ce rituel servent d'exutoire aux mauvaises pensées.

The pagan ritual of Carocho e a velha is a initiatic ritual for the passage to the child to the man. The new man with her old ( an another boy with a costume of old woman) and with the pauliteiros go to each houses of the village to pick up food and money, in the goal to have fiesta with all the people of the vilage.
The Carocho does bad thing to the people (like simulation of stealing, raping or racket). I don't know if there is an explanation but we can think this event can help him to fight his bads minds in is new life of man.
